Habichuela con Dulce is the better, tastier and richer Dominican version of “Chicken Soup for the Soul”. I’m an ardent believer in the healing properties of some good habichuela con dulce - love it when I catch an extra galletica in my cuchara! I always scoop those out first. The warm juxtaposition of texture, sweetness, and goodness makes this dish SO, SO GOOD! Along with pescado frito, habichuela con dulce is one of the staple Semana Santa traditions that Dominicans treasure. It ALWAYS tastes like home.
